Athletes
Introduction By bringing the world's best to Western Canada and the Western United States, all winter athletes benefit tremendously. Local athletes will have the chance to compete on their home mountains and international competitors will be able to acclimatize to the conditions they will face during the 2010 Winter Olympics. The Five Two Ten Initiative will work to offer athletes financial support to reward their accomplishments, and invite them to share their experience with local youth through cooperative training programs.
- Local Support International Athletes will have opportunities to build connections to local communities that will become their supporters in future competitions. Local athletes get to show off their region's best mountains, compete in front of a hometown crowd, and build up recognition in the Five Two Ten Region.
- Preparing the Future Through coupled training programs, interested athletes will have the chance to share their love of their sport with local youth and citizens.
- Prize money Where ever possible, the Five Two Ten Initiative will work to reward athletes who excel in competition with cash or other prizes. This will allow top athletes more resources to train for the 2010 Winter Olympics. The Initiative will also look into possible scholarship programs for promising youth athletes.
