  • Innovative educational programs
  • International cultural experiences
  • Unique tourism opportunities

What is Five Two Ten?

The name "Five Two Ten" comes from the inclusion of five provinces and states, built around five interrelated pillars of the initiative, starting with five snow sports.  The Initiative will take place in two countries leading up to the 2010 Winter Olympics.  Five Two Ten is a unique program built around a core of world class winter sports competitions in Alpine and Nordic skiing, snowboarding, freestyle skiing and ski jumping throughout the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada.  From this core, Five Two Ten will include community improvement initiatives, educational programs, volunteer training, as well as business and athletic development opportunities.

The goals of the Five Two Ten Initiative are multifaceted:

  • Increase participation in Olympic and Paralympic sports throughout the region
  • Expand awareness of the Pacific Northwest, British Columbia (BC) and Alberta as a winter sports destinations
  • Promote communities and winter sports areas as training venues for the 2010 Winter Games and beyond
  • Provide a showcase for regional businesses
  • Build better communication between the region's peoples
  • Maintain a binding principle of educational opportunity

Although Five Two Ten is building toward the 2010 Winter Games, the Initiative's goals reach far beyond, into a future of wider opportunity for all.

The Five Pillars of the program:

I.     Communities

II.      Volunteers

III.    Businesses

IV.    Venues
